The 5 Best Resources for Sound guys

We all want to be great at running sound! Here are some killer resources to help you out!

1. THE INTERACTIVE FREQUENCY CHART

This is one of my ALL TIME favorite resources. It shows the basic frequency ranges for tons of instruments and talks about different frequency ranges in words that make sense to the average listener. What’s wrong with that vocal? Maybe you don’t know the exact frequency, but you know it sounds “honky”. This chart puts a frequency range to the concept of “honky”. It’s especially great for being able to teach new volunteers what to listen for in each instrument!

2. TRAINYOUREARS APP

This goes hand in hand with the interactive frequency chart and takes it to a whole new level! TrainYourEars has actually developed an app that provides incredibly in-depth ear training that is designed to help you understand equalizers and frequencies like never before. With their system you’ll quickly develop a frequency memory which will allow you to connect the sound you imagine in your head with the needed parameters you have to dial to get it, more quickly and easily than ever.

They also just released version 2.0 of their software and it’s better and easier to use than any other ear training software out there. I seriously wouldn’t be able to EQ as well as I do without using this software. It’s that good!
